Chick-fil-A is a well-known Christian Quick-Service Restaurant. With over 1,615 locations, Chick-fil-A serves 38 states and the District of Columbia. Chick-fil-A is most known for the Chicken Sandwich along with the famous saying, “We didn’t invent the chicken, just the chicken sandwich”.

The whole dream became a reality when in 1946 Truett Cathy started his first restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia called The Dwarf Grill. Once Truett Cathy founded Chick-fil-A in the 1960’s the restaurant started popping up inside mall food courts. Since 1946, Chick-fil-A has grown to become the second largest quick-service restaurant chain in the United States.

With the Mission Statement, “Be America’s Best Quick-Service Restaurant” they are succeeding with over $4.1 Billion in 2011’s annual sales.

Chick-fil-A offers multiple way for their customers to purchase food. Mall/In-Line Restaurant are the most common. Found in the food courts of Malls. Stand-alone restaurants bring convenience with inside seating as well as a fast-pass drive thru for busy days. Drive-Thru Only Outlets are, you guessed it, drive thru only. The Dwarf House is the original restaurant, before becoming Chick-fil-A. Located in the metro Atlantic area. Truett’s Grill is a 50’s theme dinner that offers the Chick-fil-A menu as well as other favorites. Licensed/Non-Traditional Outlets are restaurants found in such places as college campuses and hospitals. Satellite/”lunch-counter” bring Chick-fil-A to the work place during high pass lunch hours.

Offering so many options for consumers to buy food is a definite strength in the company. Also, having firm beliefs and morals show a trustworthy quick-service restaurant. Weakness could be the number one fast food chain staying firm and possibly moving forward faster in their sales. The opportunities given to Chick-fil-A are sharing their beliefs by staying stead-fast by staying closed on Sunday and through the employees display of Christian character traits. Chick-fil-A’s beliefs can also be a threat to their company. We have all witnessed this recently.

I could not seem to figure out how to embed the timeline into this post so instead I am providing the link to Chick-fil-A’s timeline.
